THE CURRENT IS A COLLECTIVE OF STUDENTS AND LEADERS THAT ARE ENGAGED ON A JOURNEY. WE’RE ROUTE FINDING LIFE’S TWISTS, TURNS, DROPS, AND UNKNOWNS. WE ARE GOING AFTER GOD WITH ALL OUR HEARTS, AND WE BELIEVE HE IS RAISING US UP AS LEADERS FOR HIS GREATER PURPOSES.

WE UNDERSTAND HOW IT FEELS TO STRUGGLE WITH LIFE’S ISSUES, AND WE’VE CREATE A SPACE TO EQUIP STUDENTS WITH DIRECTION, RESOURCES, COMMUNITY, TOOLS TO NAVIGATE, AND A SAVING RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS.

IN ESSENCE THE CURRENT RELATES TO OUR JOURNEY IN FOLLOWING JESUS’ DIRECTION FOR OUR LIVES. WE INVITE YOU TO JOIN US. IT'S WORTH IT!

Our Ministry Format and Team

We believe spiritual formation happens through many avenues. Here are a few for as an example: Teaching, Preaching, Small Groups, Worship, Prayer, Fasting, Bible Study, Games, Events, Outreach, Friendships, and Mentorship too.

Meet our team of helpers, mentors, and leaders that are passionate about making an impact in the lives of our students.

Alex Rossie, Youth Pastor

Alex and his wife, Brittney, joined the River of Life Pastoral Team in 2017. They have both served in a wide range of ministries including: encouraging persecuted believers in the Middle East, working in isolated communities that lack the Gospel, orphanage work, and administrative roles. Following God’s heart for the broken, lost, and hard to reach has sent them around the globe to some of the wildest of places in Central America, Asia and Africa. Their vision for ministry can be summarized in the development of these three words: Disciple, Lead, Advocate. Alex and his wife are both natives to Virginia, and they truly value the relationships and life stories of those they meet. Alex is certified as a mountain guide, speaks Spanish, worked in pioneer focused ministry for over 6 years, drinks his coffee black, and in his spare time he loves to explore, fly fish, and climb.

THE BEST WAY TO STAY INVOLVED AND UP TO DATE IS TO FOLLOW OUR Facebook page and newsletter. THE NEWSLETTER IS SPECIFIC TO ONLY RIVER OF LIFE YOUTH, JUNIOR AND SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL, AND IS DESIGNED TO SPEAK A LANGUAGE THAT IS A LITTLE MORE FAMILIAR TO PARENTS.

Our philosophy on youth ministry:

We believe a student's spiritual development does not hinge on youth ministry alone, and we have a deep conviction that the best way to bring students closer to God is to co-labor with parents in discipling their children. We want to partner with you in praying for your children, reinforcing what you have sown into their lives, and calling them into their God given purposes and identity. Let's work together.

Ephesians 4:13-16

UNTIL WE ALL ATTAIN TO THE UNITY OF THE FAITH AND OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE SON OF GOD, TO MATURE MANHOOD, TO THE MEASURE OF THE STATURE OF THE FULLNESS OF CHRIST, SO THAT WE MAY NO LONGER BE CHILDREN, TOSSED TO AND FRO BY THE WAVES AND CARRIED ABOUT BY EVERY WIND OF DOCTRINE, BY HUMAN CUNNING, BY CRAFTINESS IN DECEITFUL SCHEMES. RATHER, SPEAKING THE TRUTH IN LOVE, WE ARE TO GROW UP IN EVERY WAY INTO HIM WHO IS THE HEAD, INTO CHRIST, FROM WHOM THE WHOLE BODY, JOINED AND HELD TOGETHER BY EVERY JOINT WITH WHICH IT IS EQUIPPED, WHEN EACH PART IS WORKING PROPERLY, MAKES THE BODY GROW SO THAT IT BUILDS ITSELF UP IN LOVE.
